Plot: There were two types of pupils at a private high school north of Detroit in the 1980s: freaks and geeks. Lovers and troublemakers are freaks. Geeks can just read books and are weak and inept. Lindsay excelled academically but also took the initiative to become friends with a few "freaks" since she didn't want to be labeled a "nerd." In addition to being wimpy, her brother Sam is a complete geek who has surrounded himself with other fearful nerds. Every kid in the school has growing pains of their own; their lives are enacted on the campus of every high school, mirroring the youth of all.
