Plot: Master sorcerer Balthazar Blake is attempting to protect Manhattan in the present day from Maxim Horvath, his archenemy. Since Balthazar is unable to succeed on his own, he appoints Dave Stutler—an apparently unremarkable man with potential—as his hesitant protege. Together, these unusual allies battle the forces of evil after the sorcerer offers his hesitant sidekick a crash course in the art and science of magic.
