Plot: Poland was reduced to a hellish place after the German invasion in 1944. Poland was cut off from the outside world as the army shut down all information routes. By coincidence, Jacob discovered that the Germans and the Soviet troops were engaged in a violent war over the radio. The Allied Soviet Union had won an irreparable edge in the struggle, and Jacob, buoyed by his strong morale, wanted to spread this vital news to as many people as possible. Although the bogus information helped the Jews feel more confident, the German army also learned of it and launched a detailed inquiry to find the source of the rumor.
