Plot: In an attempt to exact revenge on Asheley for not accepting himself, Scarlett, the daughter of Tara Manor on the South farm, married Charles, Asheley's younger brother, on the eve of the American Civil War. Scarlett changed throughout the war; she was no longer Miss and had to take on the responsibilities of life as a widow. Speculator Red had been her longtime love, and they were married after the war.
