Plot: Singer Velma Kelly killed both her husband and sister. A fan named Roxie Hart murdered her partner. For murder, they are both incarcerated. Their financial benefactor is the jail warden, Mama Morton. Their attorney, Billy Flynn, is defending them. He uses a made-up narrative to make Roxie famous. Envious, Velma longs to be with Roxie. They are stars and killers alike.

Plot: In 1935. Cold Mountain Prison in the American South. There is a mile-long green area called "Green Lane". However, its residents are all on death row, and at the other end of the green space is the electric chair used for execution. Paul Atchcombe is the warden here. He was indifferent to death. But the arrival of the mysterious John Coughley changed everything. Coughley was sentenced to death for the murders of two young girls. He seems to elicit an involuntary sense of trust. This leaves Edgecombe in deep doubt about the truth of his crimes.
